Conversations with Bela & Anecdotal Report - Dec 12, 2008

Me: “Bela, do you want to go to Mall of Asia to see the dinosaurs?
Bela: “Yes mommy. I want to go there. It is cool and fun.”

==

Me: “It’s my birthday on the 19th Bela.”
Bela: “Happy birthday mommy.”
Me: “Thank you.”
Bela: “You’re welcome. You will have cakes and balloons and you will blow your candle.”
Me: “Yes, I’m so excited. How about, gifts? Will I receive gifts too?”
Bela: “No, just cakes and balloons.”

==

Bela was out playing with some of the kids in our neighborhood. Most of the kids haven’t taken a bath yet and they are still wearing their PJs.

Bela: “Girls and boys, go to your yaya. Take a bath. Change your PJs.”

And here is Bela’s latest Anecdotal Report.

TODDLER’S UNLIMITED
Anecdotal Report

Child’s Name: Bela
Teacher/s: Maica and lei
Date: December 12, 2008
Class: Jumping Joeys

We thought you might like to know:

Bela is a very independent kid! She enjoys doing things on her own and is very proud of herself when she accomplishes a task. She loves eating in her own especially when she eats hotdog and uses her chopsticks to poke her food then it goes straight in her mouth. When we wash our hands, she would always say “I can do it teacher!” We are glad that Bela is growing up to be a very independent and happy child.

Bela loves the story "Brown Bear Brown Bear." One time, she told her teacher to read the story again. Her teacher read to her the book but did not turn on the music. Bela instantly stood up and grabbed her teacher’s hand and said “Teacher don’t sing, turn the radio. I want music please!”

Anecdotal Report - Nov 28, 2008

I can’t remember the last time I posted Bela’s Anecdotal Report here. I think the last one I posted was months ago. So here is one of the latest reports that I go from Bela’s teachers for this month.

It’s great to have Bela back in school! She seemed to enjoy the new books that we put like “Color Zoo” and “Where’s my Mother?”
We’ve also noticed that Bela is a very observant girl. When Teacher took out all the animal marks on the floor, and Teacher asked everyone to line up outside, Bela said “Where did all the animals go?” It’s good to know that she remembers the things we have in school! She has a very good memory.

Every time I read Bela’s anecdotal report, it really makes us feel happy with how Bela is growing up and I know part of her development, we owe to Toddlers Unlimited. I really like their progressive way of teaching kids as I can see how effective it is to Bela.

Bela will not be enrolling to a big school yet this coming school year and we plan to enroll her again to a progressive school. If I have a choice and if only Toddlers is just near our place, I will not hesitate to enroll her again here. But for next school year, she will have to go to school 5x a week so the travel time will be too much for Bela.

Hopefully I will be able to find a school in the QC area which is as good as Toddlers Unlimited. Otherwise, I really don’t know where to enroll Bela next year.

Bela enjoys playing with different materials in the Yellow Room. She likes playing with puzzles, blocks and most of all the animals. During Free Play, Bela saw the egg shaker and sat on it. Then suddenly said “look teacher, I am a chicken, you try!”

She really has a wider vocabulary now and she is constructing real sentences every she talks. And she does ask a lot of questions that sometimes I ran out of answers for her. She enjoys reading books now and every night, she will ask us to read books for her before she goes to sleep. She is also showing interest for arts now as there are times that she will ask us for some paper and crayons and she will start to draw or doodle. She also likes to play with play doh and create different kinds of shapes.

Bela enjoyed our topic this week which is about Community Helpers and places in our community. She would listen attentively and join in all the activities. When her teacher asked what she wants to be when she grows up, she instantly pointed to the picture of a policeman and said “I want to be a policeman!”

Bela looked like she had lots of fun during Max’s birthday party. She didn’t hesitate to help Max blow her candles on her cake, and she asked for cake and spaghetti. It’s nice to see her enjoying the company of her classmates.

~~~
And since it is Friday today, I was at Toddlers Unlimited again this afternoon after work. I was able to take a picture of Bela’s art work again posted at the TU wall.
~~~

And I was really happy because Bela just so loves her new toy. We just gave it to her today since our boxes for the cartridges just arrived today. She got all excited after we told her that she has a new toy and she kept on saying “Yes, yes, yes” after she saw it.

She loves the Dora and the Backyardigans game. She hasn’t tried Finding Nemo and Ratatouille yet. We might be going to the hospital tomorrow for hubby and my grandmother’s eye check up so at least now she has something to keep her busy.

Anecdotal Report, Etc

We just got back from the Dora Concert at Aliw Theater. I’m so dead tired as we went to the concert straight from the office. I haven’t downloaded the pictures yet so I will just make a separate post about it tomorrow.

For now, I just want to share with you Bela’s first anecdotal report. My mom got really excited after reading the report that she called me to read to me what Teacher Nyra wrote about Bela as soon as she finish reading it.

So here it goes…

Child’s Name: Bela
Teacher/s: Maica and Nyra
Date: April 24, 2008
Class: Raindrops

We thought you might like to know:

Bela is adjusting well to the program! Once she comes in the room, she immediately looks for a toy to play with. She explores the different areas in the room and plays with her friends well. During Circle, she excitedly joins in singing “MR. Sun” and the “Rainbow Song.”

I’m really glad my daughter is having fun at school. This is really our goal for now – to let her enjoy her first school experience.

Tomorrow will be their field trip at the Manila Ocean Park. I’m excited as this is Bela’s first field trip. I will post another story about it so watch out for it.
